On today’s show we talk about Brampton re-opening, discuss newCOVID-19 stats, and talk to transit advocate Chris Drew.
On Monday, Ontario announced that Toronto and the Peel Region will be joining the rest of the province in entering Stage 2 of Phase 2 of the province’s economic reopening. This will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. on June 24, meaning some non-essential businesses can be opened (with some safety measures).
The Region of Peel has about 5828 total cases and is growing at a linear pace rather than exponentially. There were about 500 cases in the last 2 weeks, which is not great news. Brampton has had 27 cases per day on average with a high of 42, while Mississauga has had 13 average cases.
Guest: Chris Drew
We join Chris Drew, a prominent transit advocate in the GTA. He tells us about his top 3 issues that transit is facing in Brampton. The first, being the Main Street LRT and Queen Street bus route proposal, a virtual consolation has just launched and residents can give their input at https://bramptonlrt.com/. He further goes into a discussion about the other upcoming transit projects and what residents can do to provide their opinion.
