Premier Doug Ford was in Brampton today with Education Minister Stephen Lecce to announce the provincial government’s commitment to funding to build 2 schools in Brampton.
Of the two schools in Brampton, one will be named after Private Buckam Singh – a Canadian Sikh soldier that fought in WW1. The other will be named after Malala Yousafzai, a young human rights activist and Nobel Prize laureate. She is most widely recognized for her advocacy in education opportunities for women and children.

Our children’s education is one of our top priorities, and we are excited to get shovels in the ground to build more spaces for them to learn. pic.twitter.com/iZzZkIzKME
The funding for these schools is part of a larger capital investment to build 30 new schools, renovate existing schools and generate 900 new licensed childcare spaces.
Minster Lecce did not provide any updates on the state of school reopenings in September, but did indicate that more details will be released next week.
