Peel Police issued 154 tickets in July for improper mufflers and 150 tickets for unnecessary noise to vehicle owners in Peel Region as part of “Project Noisemaker”.
Road Safety Services launched Project Noisemaker on July 1st to identify and reduce the number of motor vehicles with modified or excessively loud exhaust systems.
Vehicle owners are encouraged to repair modified exhaust systems and avoid using mechanisms to alter and increase the sound of their vehicles in quiet, residential areas. Vehicles owners face charges, including Improper Muffler and Unnecessary Noise with fines of $110 upon conviction.
